Foreign Minister attends the Bangladesh Independence Day reception as the Chief Guest

The Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim attended the reception to celebrate the 47th Anniversary of Independence of Bangladesh as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the function, Minister Asim conveyed, on behalf of His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, the Government and the People of Maldives warm greetings and sincere best wishes to His Excellency President Md. Abdul Hamid, and the friendly people of Bangladesh on this auspicious occasion.

Minister Asim highlighted that the diplomatic relations between the two countries is strong, vibrant and is anchored on mutual understanding, shared values and goodwill. On behalf of the Government Minister also congratulated the Government and people of Bangladesh on achieving the United Nations accepted threshold for graduation from the least developed country status and expressed well wishes as Bangladesh prepares to transition into the middle income developing category of nations.

Minister further reiterated the commitment of the Maldivian Government to working closely with Bangladesh, bilaterally, regionally as SAARC members and internationally, to further strengthen and enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Reception organized by Embassy of Bangladesh in Maldives was held at Ahmadhiyya International School.
