MALDIVIAN PRESIDENT AND INDIAN PRESIDENT REFLECT ON CLOSE TIES AND SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

At a meeting held between President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Indian President Shri Ram Nath Kovind, both leaders spoke extensively on the close ties and special friendship between the two countries.

President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed are currently on a State Visit to India, being made on the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President Solih and First Lady are being hosted at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, as special guests of the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

Discussions were also held on ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the Maldives and India, and on matters of mutual interest.

The Indian President also assured that Maldives can always count on India as a steadfast partner in its progress as a nation.

Subsequent to the meeting, President Shri Ram Nath Kovind hosted a banquet in honour of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

While addressing at the function, President Solih highlighted the importance his administration accords to rekindling old friendships while fostering new ones.
