Supreme Court Issues an Injunction Regarding its Decision on Reinstating Members of Parliament

February 18, 2018

The Supreme Court today issued an injunction suspending the implementation of points one and four of the Supreme Court Order issued on 1 February 2018. This suspends the decision by the Supreme Court reinstating the 12 Members of Parliament disqualified from their seats as a result of floor crossing. The injunction was granted in response to a case submitted by the Attorney General challenging the constitutionality of points one and four of the Supreme Court Order of 1 February 2018.

Therefore, the 12 Members of Parliament who lost their seats, as a result of floor crossing, will not regain their Parliamentary positions until the Supreme Court has been able to determine the case submitted by the Attorney General.
