Key agreements signed between the Maldives and Malaysia

Four important agreements were signed today between the Maldives and Malaysia. The ceremony was held at the President’s Office this morning.

 

 

 

The agreements signed today are as follows:

1. MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on the Establishment of the Maldives Cultural Centre in Malaysia.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

2. MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on Co-operation in the field of Fire Fighting and Rescue Training.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Defence and National Security H.E Adam Shareef and Malaysian Minister of Urban Wellbeing & Local Government H.E. Tan Sri Noh bin Haji Omar.

3. MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Education H.E Dr. Aishath Shiham and Malaysian Minister of Higher Education H.E. Dato’ Seri Idris Bin Jusoh.

4. MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on Co-operation in the Field of Health.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Health H.E Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and Malaysian Minister of Health H.E. Datuk Seri Subramaniam K V Sathasivam

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak witnessed the signing ceremony.

Prior to the agreement signing, President Yameen and the Malaysian Prime Minister had a one-to-one meeting at the President’s Office. Official talks were also held between the government of Maldives and the government of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister and First Lady of Malaysia are on an official visit to the Maldives, at the invitation of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
