European Union Delegates holds talks with Foreign Minister

A high-level delegation from the European Union (EU), led by Mrs. Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director for Asia Department of the European External Action Service (EEAS), called on Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives H.E Dr. Mohamed Asim.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning, Foreign Minister Asim and Mrs. Pampaloni discussed ways of further enhancing cooperation with the Maldives and the European Union on various sectors. Discussions were also focused on key thematic areas such as countering terrorism and violent extremism, climate change, environmental protection, strengthening regional cooperation, as well as other important issues of mutual interest. Minister Asim will also host a luncheon in honor of Mrs Paola Pampaloni and the delegates.

Foreign Minister Dr. Asim was accompanied by the Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Ahmed Sareer, H.E Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary Bilateral, H.E Dr. Fazeel Najeeb, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E Ahmed Shiaan, Ambassador of Maldives to the European Union and Ms. Shiuneen Rasheed, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
