Minister Asim meets with Permanent Representatives of several countries in New York
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamed Asim has met today with several Permanent Representatives in New York, to discuss issues of mutual interest, especially with regard to the United Nations Security Council. The Maldives is campaigning for support in its bid to become a member of the Council for the term 2019-2020.
This afternoon, Minister Asim hosted a luncheon meeting for Ambassadors of the League of Arab States. During the meeting, Minister Asim discussed priority issues for the members of the League, including the Palestine issue, situation in Syria, and the United Nations Development System Reform.
Minister Asim is visiting New York to speak at the High Level Meeting to launch the “International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028” hosted by the President of the General Assembly.
