PRESIDENT YAMEEN SENDS MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO THE PRIME MINISTER OF JAPAN
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, following the Typhoon Jebi and the strong earthquake that struck, Japan’s Hokkaido, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It was with profound sadness that I heard the news of the tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to property and infrastructure caused by Typhoon Jebi, and the strong earthquake which struck Hokkaido this morning.
At this time of national sorrow, I would like to assure Your Excellency, our firm solidarity with the Government and people of Japan, as a close bilateral partner and a friend. I pray for strength and fortitude for the Japanese people in overcoming this calamity, smooth running of the rescue and recovery operations, and a speedy recovery for the injured.
Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families”.
