Minister of Foreign Affairs calls on the President of the Republic of India
Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid called on His Excellency Ram Nath Kovind, President of the Republic of India today.
During the call, the President welcomed the Minister to India on his first visit. The Minister thanked the President for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to him, and his delegation, and conveyed greetings and good wishes from His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of Maldives and thanked the President for the good wishes extended to President Solih upon his inauguration.
Highlighting the strong bilateral ties between India and Maldives, the Minister reaffirmed the commitment of President Solih, to renew and further strengthen the relationship between India and the Maldives. The Minister assured that India is the closest and most trusted neighbour, and partner of the Government.
The Minister is accompanied by the Minister of Finance H.E. Mr Ibrahim Ameer, and the Minister of Economic Development H.E. Uz Fayyaz Ismail and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and the Maldives Embassy in Delhi.
