Maldives Ambassador designated to Sri Lanka pays courtesy call on the Vice President
Maldives Ambassador designated to Sri Lanka Mr. Omar Abdul Razzaq called on Vice President Faisal Naseem, this morning, at the President’s Office.
The Vice President congratulated the Ambassador on his recent appointment, and expressed his eagerness to work closely with the Ambassador to build on the close and positive ties between Maldives and Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador reiterated the Vice President’s sentiments regarding strengthening bilateral ties. Further, he noted that he would do his utmost to ensure that some of the issues and challenges faced by Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka, particular with regard to visa facilitation and accessing services, are addressed. He also expressed that he will explore ways of further strengthening the quality of diplomatic and consular services offered by the Maldives’ embassy in Sri Lanka.
In addition to the aforementioned areas, The Vice President and Ambassador spoke of enhancing cooperation with Sri Lanka on mutual priority areas such as tourism and trade. Concluding the call, the Vice President wished the Ambassador well in his diplomatic endeavors.
