The Ambassador of Australia to the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Bryce Hutchesson, paid his farewell call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, this morning, at the President’s Office.

 During the call, the President conveyed thanks and appreciation for the continuous support and services provided to the Maldives during the Ambassador’s tenure.

The Ambassador of Pakistan to the Maldives, His Excellency Vice Admiral Retd. Waseem Akram, met with Vice President Faisal Naseem this morning at the President’s Office, to pay a courtesy visit.

During the call, the Vice President noted the existing brotherly ties between the Maldives and Pakistan. The Ambassador returned mutual warm sentiments and further, congratulated the Vice President on assuming office. He reiterated the Pakistan Government’s desire to work closely with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration.

Ambassador of the United States of America to the Maldives, Her Excellency Alaina Teplitz and the Assistant Secretary of Defense of the United States of America, Randall Schriver, called on the Foreign Minister, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, today.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, the Foreign Minister welcomed Ambassador Teplitz and Assistant Secretary of Defense to the Maldives and discussed ways of further strengthening the existing ties between the two countries.

Assistant Secretary of Defense, Schriver and Ambassador Teplitz assured the US Government’s readiness in providing assistance and support, especially in the defense sector and was keen in exploring future U.S. support for security cooperation activities in the Maldives.

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka H.E. Major General (Retd) B.R.W.M.R.A.B Thoradeniya, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem, this morning at the President’s Office.

During the call, the Vice President welcomed the Ambassador and expressed good wishes from the Government and the people of Maldives to the Government and the people of Sri Lanka.

Her Excellency Ms. Keiko Yanai, the new Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid today. The introductory call took place shortly after Ambassador Yanai presented her letter of credence to President Solih in a ceremony held at the President’s Office. 

During the meeting, Minister Shahid congratulated Ambassador Yanai on her new appointment and assured the full support of the Government of Maldives in discharging her duties. Minister Shahid also highlighted the enduring strength of the Maldives-Japan partnership and the close people-to-people contact that form the foundation of the relationship.
