President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today met with the Senior Officers of Maldives Police Service.

During the meeting held at the Maldives Police Service Headquarters, President Solih stressed the importance of further strengthening the institution.

Noting that the Police Service was responsible for the protection of the Maldivian people, President Solih assured that his administration would put in every effort to keep the institution free from political influence.

Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has departed today to New Delhi, India on his first official visit.

During his visit to New Delhi, Minister Shahid will meet with Her Excellency Sushma Swaraj and other high level officials of the Government of India, and hold discussions on strengthening the traditionally close friendly relations between the Maldives and India.

Minister Shahid is accompanied by the Minister of Finance His Excellency Ibrahim Ameer, the Minister of Economic Development His Excellency Uz. Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary His Excellency Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed as Foreign Secretary, on 21st November 2018.

The appointment is made at the level of Minister of State.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today appointed Abdulla Jabir as the Special Envoy. The President presented the letter of appointment to the Special Envoy at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today made three appointments to the Judicial Service Commission.

Below are the members appointed today:

1.    Speaker of the Parliament Gasim Ibrahim, under Article 158 (a) of the Maldives’ Constitution and Article 3 (1) of the Judicial Service Act
2.    Attorney General Uz. Ibrahim Riffath, under Article 158 (i) of the Maldives’ Constitution and Article 3 (9) of the Judicial Service Act
3.    Member of Parliament for Dhiggaru Constituency, Ahmed Faris Maumoon, under Article 158 (e) of the Maldives’ Constitution and Article 3 (5) of the Judicial Service Act

President Solih presented the letter of appointment to the newly appointed members, ‎at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon.

Prior to the presentation of the letter of appointment, the three members took the oath of membership of JSC. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Hon. Dr. Ahmed Abulla Didi.
