Noting that fulfilling dreams of the youth are his priority, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that bringing the Maldives to the frontlines in the world, in terms of development, is his ambition. The President made this remark while addressing the gathering at the function organized by Progressive Party of Maldives in Hulhumale´.

In his speech, the President announced plans to build International Financial Centres and Business Centres in the Hulhumale´ Youth City. He further said that his dream is to make the Maldives the most outstanding in the region and in the world.

In his speech, President Yameen highlighted the numerous development projects carried out across the country for youth empowerment. He especially noted the housing schemes targeted for the country’s youth. In this regard, President Yameen underscored that the Hiyaa project and Hiyaa Accomplished project, two of the administration’s housing schemes, were planned as total solution projects for the housing problems being faced today.

Speaking at the function, the President also shared his vision of making the Maldives more technologically advanced in the coming years, by building ICT parks in all parts of the country. He further informed of plans to reduce internet usage prices at least by 30%.

Highlighting the work accomplished by the Maldives in the international arena, as an advocate for Small Island States, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has underscored the support in the international arena for the Maldives. The President made this remark while addressing the gathering at the ceremony held to mark the completion of development projects in Thinadhoo, South Huvadhu Atoll.

While addressing the gathering, the President emphasized that the Maldives’ membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council for two consecutive terms was proof that our efforts towards ensuring human rights is recognized by all. He further said that other small island states look up to the Maldives for better representation in the international arena.

In his speech, President Yameen highlighted the numerous development projects carried out across country during his presidential term. Further, the President spoke of future plans to develope 6000 beds in the coming years, and make the South Huvadhu Atoll a tourism hub.

During this tour, the President marked the completion of several projects carried out in Thinadhoo which includes the completion of road construction, Islamic Centre, “Aabaadhee Maizaan” Park, land reclamation & shore protection, construction of 120 housing units, and shore protection in the Baraasil area of Thinadhoo.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has participated in the ceremony to mark the completion of seven projects in Thinadhoo Island of South Huvadhu Atoll. The ceremony was held this morning at the harbour area of Thinadhoo.

The ceremony marked the completion of road construction, Islamic Centre, “Aabaadhee Maizaan” Park, land reclamation & shore protection, construction of 120 housing units, and shore protection in the Baraasil area of Thinadhoo.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has this morning departed on a visit to Thinadhoo Island of South Huvadhu Atoll.

During this tour, the President is scheduled to attend the ceremony held to mark the completion of several projects carried out in Thinadhoo.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appealed to put in extra effort to responsibly safeguard and promote our Islamic faith in the hearts of all Maldivians. The President made this appeal in his message published on the auspicious occasion of the Islamic New Year 1440.

In his message, the President noted that the Islamic New Year reminds us all, of the auspicious event of Hijrah (migration from Mecca to Medina) of the Prophet Mohamed (PBUH), and stated that the event of Hijrah itself is a huge Islamic sacrifice made by our Islamic ancestors.

Moreover, the President called upon the people to uphold the brotherly ties that exist among us despite our differences.

In his message the President also conveyed warm greetings and sincere good wishes to the people of the Maldives, to the Governments and the brotherly people of the Muslim Ummah.
