FOREIGN HEADS OF STATES AND GOVERNMENTS CONVEY INDEPENDENCE DAY GREETINGS

The Heads of State and Government from a number of countries have conveyed felicitations to the Government and the people of the Maldives, on the occasion of the 53rd Independence Day of the Maldives.

Notable amongst the foreign dignitaries who conveyed Independence Day greetings, to date, are the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Crown Prince His Royal Highness Mohammad bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the King of Morocco His Majesty Mohammed VI, the President of the United Arab Emirates Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the President of the United States of America Donald Trump, the President of France Emmanuel Macron, and the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in.

His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia expressed their good wishes to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for good health and happiness and for more progress and prosperity of the people of the Maldives.

The President of the United Arab Emirates expressed his wishes for the health and happiness of President Yameen, as well as for the joy and prosperity of the people of the Maldives. The Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi also conveyed Independence Day greetings, expressing hope for further progress and prosperity of the people of the Maldives under the leadership of President Yameen.

With wishes for President Yameen’s continued success in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of the Maldives, the President of Egypt expressed his keenness to strengthen bilateral ties in areas of mutual interest.

The President of Russia noted in his message that he is confident of further development of the Russia-Maldives friendly relations in line with the interest of the people of both countries.

The King of Morocco emphasized his satisfaction with the existing good relations between the Maldives and Morocco and reiterated his will to elevate the relations between the two countries.

While emphasizing that the United States continues to value its cooperation with the Maldives in upholding the democratic system in place, President Donald Trump expressed his desire to work in concert to ensure enduring peace and prosperity of the Indian Ocean. In a similar vein, the President of France intimated his wishes to further cultivate the ties between the Maldives and France.

In his message, the President of South Korea highlighted on advancing the ties between South Korea and the Maldives to an even more mutually beneficial and future-oriented partnership.
