Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed meets the Prime Minister of Lebanon, President of the Lebanon Parliament and his counterpart Mr. Gebran Bassil

Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim has called on the Prime Minister of Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Saad Hariri.

During the meeting, PM Hariri and Minister Asim discussed on bilateral areas of cooperation between the Maldives and Lebanon. Minister Asim briefed Prime Minister on the rapid economic development strides Maldives has achieved under the initiative of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and in this regard, mentioned that the Maldives would welcome potential investments from Lebanon. Minister Asim also informed the advocacy role Maldives plays as Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), in addressing climate change impacts on small island states like the Maldives. Prime Minister Hariri and Minister Asim pledged their commitment to work closely both in bilateral and multilateral arena.

Minister Asim is in Lebanon on an official visit. This is his first official visit to Lebanon since he assumed office. He was accompanied by Ms. Samahath Zuhuree, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim also paid a courtesy call on President of the Lebanon Parliament, H.E. Mr. Nabih Berri.

He made the courtesy call during his official visit to Lebanon. Minister Asim was accompanied by Ms. Samahath Zuhuree, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim  met the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Gebran Bassil.

During this meeting, Minister Asim reaffirmed the close friendly relations between the Maldives and Lebanon and explored various areas of cooperation between both the countries.

The Maldives established diplomatic relations with Lebanon on 25 February 1988. Minister Asim is in Lebanon on an official visit. He was accompanied by Ms. Samahath Zuhuree, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
