PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT CONFERRED
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has on Thursday evening presented the President’s Award for Special Achievement. The awards were conferred at the official function held at Jumhooree Maidhaan(Republic Square), to mark this year’s Independence Day.
Two honourees received the medal for exceptional academic achievement within the Maldives National Qualifications Framework, and 19 honourees were recognised for attaining the top ranking in a higher academic course or training. The Special Achievement Award for attaining top ranking in an international exhibition or contest was awarded to three honourees this year.
Twenty four honourees received medals and certificates of this year’s President’s Award for Special Achievement.
Honourees who were conferred the medal for achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National Qualifications Framework were:
1. Dr. AbdulRaheem Hassan
2. Dr. Mariyam Shahneeza Naseer
President Yameen awarded a special Commemorative Plaque from the Government, to the first two PhD students who graduated from the Maldives National University:
1. Dr. Suneena Rasheed
2. Dr. Aishath Ali
The nineteen honourees who achieved the highest ranking in a higher academic course or training course were:

The President’s Medal for achieving the highest rank in an international exhibition or competition were conferred to three honorees. They were:

3. Mr. Yazeed Mohamed
At the function held this evening, President Yameen conferred the President’s Medal to seven honourees for committing the Quran to memory. They were:
1. Al-Hafiza Shausan Waseem
2. Al-Hafiza Mariyam Wadheefa
3. Al-Hafiz Murushidul Ameen
4. Al-Hafiza Aiminath Hishma Adam
5. Al-Hafiza Sujatha Abdul Ghafoor
6. Al-Hafiza Mariyam Didi; and
7. Al-Hafiza Sajwa Mohamed Latheef
Honourees who were conferred the President’s Medal for achieving first place in the world top ten in the 2017 IGCSE and GCE O’level examinations were:
1. Mariyam Haiba Abdulla – Mathematics (Iskandhar School)
2. Nasam Naseem – Travel and Tourism (Jamaludheen School); and
3. Ahmed Misbah Ali – Travel and tourism (Aminiya School)
Honourees who were conferred the President’s Medal for achieving first place in the world top ten in the 2017-2018 A’level examinations were:
1. Aishath Aalaa Iqbal – Accounting (Addu High School)
2. Hussain Raffaan Saeedh – Accounting (Addu High School)
3 Aiman Ibrahim – Accounting (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
4. Husham Abdul Hameedh – Accounting (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
5. Ibrahim Shadin Mohamed – Accounting (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
6. Mariyam Insha Ziyadh – Accounting and Economics (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
7. Asiyath Aqsa Afeef – Economics (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
8. Mariyam Azha Ibrahim – Chemistry and Physics (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
9. Aiminath Ibana Shahid – Business Studies (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
10. Hassan Saraah Shahid – Business Studies (Center for Higher Secondary Education)
Honouree who attained the President’s Scout Badge were Anoof Abdulla, while, Mohamed Azaan Abdulla and Mohamed Fauzoon received the Baden-Powell Badge.
In his speech, President Yameen extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all honourees of this year’s President’s Award for Special Achievement.
