PRESIDENT SOLIH AND PRIME MINISTER MODI LEAD OFFICIAL TALKS BETWEEN THE MALDIVES AND INDIA; REITERATE COMMITMENT FOR ENHANCED COOPERATION

Official talks between the government of Maldives and government of India have been held this afternoon, as part of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s current State Visit to India. President Solih chaired the Maldives’ side while Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Indian side. The talks were held at Hyderabad House, New Delhi.

Discussions were held on a vast array of areas where existing ties could be further developed. While highlighting the close bilateral relations between the Maldives and India, President Solih and Prime Minister Modi expressed their hopes to continue working closely in all areas of bilateral cooperation, to take the relationship to a higher level.

INDIAN EXTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTER PAYS COURTESY CALL ON PRESIDENT SOLIH

Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj has paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The meeting was held today at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, India.

During the call, India’s External Affairs Minister reiterated assurance of Indian friendship and mutual cooperation with the Maldives. Discussions were also held on strengthening traditionally strong and friendly relations through development cooperation, human resource development and people-to-people exchanges. Read more

INDIAN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALLY WELCOMES MALDIVIAN PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY TO INDIA

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have received a grand welcome from the Indian government. The ceremony was held this morning at the Presidential Palace Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Solih and the First Lady were officially received at the Presidential Palace, by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On arrival of the President and First Lady at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Indian Army fired a 21-gun salute. When President Solih ascended the saluting dais, presentations of arms was conducted and the national anthems of the Maldives and India were played. PRESIDENT SOLIH ASSURES OF ADMINISTRATION’S FULL COOPERATION FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENTS

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured that his administration is fully committed to providing the protection and legal cover that overseas investors need to develop their businesses in the Maldives. The President extended this assurance while meeting with members of the Indian business community this evening.

President Solih is currently on a State Visit to India, on the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The President is being accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, and a high-level delegation of government officials. Read more

PRESIDENT SOLIH URGES ALL MALDIVIANS TO ALWAYS UPHOLD UNITY

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called upon all Maldivians to always uphold unity and brotherhood. The President made this appeal while addressing the Maldivian Community residing in India this evening.

The President is currently on a State Visit to India, on the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the function, President Solih underscored the importance of maintaining international cooperation in order to ensure the security of a small State such as the Maldives. He also assured that this administration will never risk the relations established with the international community. The President especially noted the need to maintain strong relations with India for the safety and security of the region. Read more
